The green sapphire or aluminum oxide with a trace of iron (for all the gem geeks out there) with its green hue and breathtaking luster, is one of the rarest sapphires on the planet. However due to its relatively low demand, this magnificent gemstone is considered one of the more economical sapphires.
Even-though much rarer than a diamond, and not to mention most other colors of sapphire, the green sapphire isn’t a gemstone you would often hear about. Is it mainly due to the usual narrative of not enough demand or just the fact that many people are not aware of this beauty of a gemstone?
The green sapphire which is from the corundum family gets it unique color from from the trace element Iron (Fe). These sapphires come in a variety of intensities ranging from an olive kind of green all the way to leafy green. The green sapphire is a gemstone that has a lot of yellow and blue colors as admixtures which help in changing the hue from higher to lower intensity.

This is mainly due to the lack of marketing, and also the difficulty in finding a lot of calibrated green sapphires of the same uniform color and size. However it is a gemstone that could be picked up at a lower price point than many other sapphires and diamonds of a similar size and quality, making it a gemstone that has the potential to increase in value much faster than other gemstones over time.
